SUNJAY at THE QUEENS HEAD,BELPER.November 16th. £8.Doors at 8.00pm.

9/11/2018

Picture
Still very much in the vanguard of the UK folk blues scene while barely into his mid twenties,Sunjay has already packed more into his career than some artists achieve in a lifetime.
Returning to the club scene on the back of a tour playing the leading role in Buddy-surely the part he was born to play- Sunjay continues to channel folk and blues in his own inimitable manner.
However, the rock 'n roll influence is unmistakably there as evidenced by a storming finale medley rivalling the legendary Led Zep epic for virtuosity and intensity. For a taste of his more traditional performance check him out on Belper Music and Arts web page.
Tickets available at the venue or contact mjones572@hotmail.co.uk.

HITIRO.Jazz, rock and world fusion at The Queens Head,Belper.October 12th. £7. 8.00pm. A long time coming but worth the wait.

6/10/2018

Picture
Individually,Hitiro have been around for quite a while playing a diverse range of music before returning to their original love of jazz and jazz inflected rock. Since the halcyon days of Weather Report and Chick Corea, rock and jazz have entertained a long flirtation but in the case of Hitiro it is a consummate love affair which fuses a range of influences into a heady and eclectic mix.
This is their first live performance and has been a long time coming so a gig not to be missed. Incidentally, the name was originally meant to be hetero as in diverse but a typo resulted in Hitiro which is the title of a classic Japanese movie. Not a lot of people know that.
Tickets are available at the venue or to reserve contact mjones572@hotmail.co.uk.

Award winning trio Harp And A Monkey return to Belper on September 15. Since their last appearance, they have scooped the folking.com award for band of the year. and received accolades from sources as diverse as Mike Harding and Clare Balding.
Suffice it to say that The Observer review of 'bold and brilliant' does fair justice to their brand of electro-folk storytelling with traditional roots and historical themes seamlessly blended with their unique blend of instrumentation and electronic embellishment.
Whether on the festival stage or the intimate club environment, Harp and a Monkey never fail to deliver a performance guaranteed to  bring tremors to the petrified forest of traditional folk.
