Some tickets still available for surely the most diverse artist to grace the stage of The Queens Head as Steve Ignorant brings his Slice of Life line-up back to Belper. A co-founder of legendary anarcho-punk outfit Crass, Steve is also a published writer, wood sculptor and a fully qualified Punch and Judy man under the title of Professor Ignorant. In his spare time he is also a voluntary member of the Sea Palling lifeboat crew.
The problem of where to turn after the final curtain on a legendary band was easily solved. You simply form two bands and record and tour with both and Steve still performs with both Paranoid Visions and Slice of Life, the latter incidentally including one Carol Hodge,an intriguing performer in her own right as Queens Head audiences have already discovered.
Slice of LIfe is probably Steve Ignorant's most personal project to date combining song and spoken word to convey life experience and an insight into what still drives this extraordinary artist.
Support comes from performance poet Dwane Reads and our very own Mr Chris Butler.
Tickets are available from the venue or contact mjones572@hotmail.co.uk. A full house is anticipated.

With Bob's Nobel Prize firmly cementing the value of American song, another radical voice returns to The Queens Head. Following the path pioneered by the great Woody Guthrie,Pete Seeger and Phil Ochs, David has a song for all seasons and a place in the pantheon of great topical songwriters.
From his adopted home in Portland,Oregon to just about anywhere on the planet, David Rovics has written prolifically and toured relentlessly over the years with songs relating not only to today's news but also rooted in an alternative vision of American history from the early years of the republic to 20th C labour activism.
Uncompromising and hard-hitting, David Rovics'
songs tackle injustice and inequality with both
compassion and humour underpinning his righteous anger.
A unique and powerful voice which often sheds an original light on our troubled times.

From Southend-on sea to The Catskills is a long and complex musical journey. A virtuoso pedal steel player, Martin Boulter also fronted his own band, The Lucky Strikes, before a chance meeting in Cardiff with Simone Felice, late of the fsbulous  Felice Brothers led to a whole range of musical collaborations and adventures.
Now resident in his native Thames Estuary,Martin is sharply focused on a songwriting career with his work described by The Independent as 'freshly original'. Like a certain Charles Dickens, his writing is deeply infused with the bleakness of his environment and populated by striking characters. However, let us not forget that this neck of the woods also spawned Dr Feelgood, Eddie and the Hot Rods and The Hamsters, all bands with roots tempered by a raw and vital edge. Martin himself plays down the Americana label preferring to identify with roots music from all sources.
On this occasion he will be backed by keyboards, fiddle and double bass and support comes from JiJi who has won many admirers on the local scene.
