From Austin Texas and on his very last UK tour, Bob Cheevers returns to Belper. The award winning songwriter comes to The Queens Head on November 8th. Catch him here if you can't afford the air fare to Texas. Tickets are £8 / £7 unwaged on the door or reserve via [email protected]. Twice winner of the Black Horse Poetry award, performance poet and musician,Jimmy Andrex brings his one man show to Belper. Based on the book 'Utopia for Realists' by Rutger Bregman, the show explores the causes and impact of poverty together with the argument for Universal Basic Income. Co-founder of Red Shed Readings, Jimmy has also delivered plays and stage performances which have been at least controversial. His friends describe him as clever and articulate while his wife just wishes he would shift that pile of books next to the bed. Poets eh ? Admission is by donations to Hope For Belper. Two benefit gigs in three days to send our community newspaper onwards and upwards. On Saturday October 12, Cage of Crows, Spindrift, Jake KIngfisher and Leo Swarvett play The Queens Head while on October 14 The Ferrets headline at No 28. To allow for a full evening's fun and entertainment, The Queens gig kicks off at 7.30 pm and there may still be additions to the line up plus raffles and other frivolities. Admission is free but donations are welcome and we will tug at your purse strings. There is an admission charge on Monday but there will also be excellent food. Why not support both and ensure that we have our own community newspaper funded for the future. |
