Esther Swift with support from Robyn Johnson. January 9th. Admission £7. Doors at 8.00pm.22/12/2014
Scottish Harpist Esther Swift makes her return to The Queens Head. One half of folk duo Twelfth Night whose music has been described as like 'Debussy making daisy chains with Fairport Convention' Esther is firmly at the cutting edge of contemporary folk. Not that many Scottish harpists regularly jump over Hadrian's Wall so this is definitely one to look out for.

After last year's triumphant performance, it was inevitable that harpist Esther Swift would return to The Queens Head. Better known as one half of the duo Twelfth Night with Orcadian fiddler, Katriona Price, Esther is firmly at the cutting edge of contemporary folk. Described as like 'Debussy weaving daisy chains with Fairport Convention' their debut album 'Northern Quarter quickly endeared them to a wide audience. Never let it be said however that the duo lack humour having released an EP which saw them doing justice to Blondie and Morrisey. Scottish harpists don't cross Hadrian's Wall every day making this one unmissable. Advance tickets for £8 available at the venue from Thursday Dec 1st - in fact pick one up when you come to see the excellent Andy White on that very night. |
